Two clownfish, sold, 2014 mixed media on canvas board by Russell Frantom
At the time I worked at petco and was having an affair on my husband with my boss. It was one of the hottest and greatest times while it lasted.. But I was never happy in that marriage I was in.. I was too dumb to leave I suppose, I’m not sure. But anyhow, I painted this at that time because I was the aquatics manager (the fish person) at petco, and also had my own saltwater tanks at home and it has been a lifelong hobby- but anyhow, the two species of clownfish that I painted in this now sold art piece cannot live together in real life in the aquarium. I was using that to describe how I felt in my marriage living with him, living with another species that I’m not supposed to be around. So I painted these that will battle to the death if kept together.
